We Tell the Story of How Things Get Built

Wonderstruct is a marketing and technology firm for the architecture, engineering, and construction industry.

It started in the field

Alyce Anderson spent a decade in construction before she started a marketing firm. Field engineer first, working steel packages on a large apartment complex. Then field superintendent on a residential community, where she built more than fifty homes. From there, she moved into business development and preconstruction support for a national general contractor in Texas. She later managed corporate communications for another major builder in Chicago, supporting proposals, market strategy, public relations, and mission-critical projects.

That's where she found the problem. The people who build things are exceptionally good at building things, but not necessarily great at explaining them.

You've probably seen the results: a proposal that should have won, a verbose safety manual nobody will read, a project that never gained public support because the community didn't understand the benefits.

In 2016, still working in construction, she went back and earned a creative writing certificate from Southern Methodist University. Superintendents do not generally do that.

She started Wonderstruct in 2019, freelancing and bartending while she built it. The idea was simple and it has not changed since: clearly and effectively tell the story of how and why things get built.
